There's a lot of technical challenges, and a lot of genuinely tough problems that have to be overcome. are being built to match that box, so if you don't you'll break all of that." It's taken far longer than it should because a ton of stuff gets reworked, primarily because CIG is topheavy with creatives (and CR is the most obvious example) and very lacking in engineers and practical design sorts with the authority to say "No, this is a bad idea and here are the reasons it won't work out as you expect" and "Okay, this is the box you must now fit concept X in, because concepts Y, Z, A, B, C, etc. Why oh why can anyone remotely objective be OK with the fact, that after 10 years, they don't have the flight model nailed down. Space flying, spaceship fighting, spaceship trucking, spaceship pirating, spaceship salvage, spaceship repair, shaceship mining, etc. This one in particular is super damming to me. Shouldn't that effort be leveraged by the bigger team working S42? If they're in both why is the PU team working anything other than integration of s42 advancements?Īlso you mentioned the flight model. Why are they on both roadmaps, with some items taking multiple Years for the PU. If they're being developed for S42, why are they also being developed for the PU. Those mechanics are complicated and definitely COULD be being worked on in S42. You're right on those mechanics that could happen in S42 and being worked there. Part of me is ever hopeful, but the other part isn't a fool. I backed cause I wanted to see it succeed. This game is the laughing stock of the entire industry, and they're not giving updates because of spoilers? That's ridiculous!Īnd then, to top it all off, Chris has the balls to publicly ridicule his own backers because we want updates and answers after a decade!Īnd before y'all call me a troll or whatever, in this 'great and friendly' community, I have ~1200$ in this and I'm not asking for a refund. Why, if so much effort is being placed on S42 are they not talking about it citcon? Brain dead AI and, in the timeline of this project, we've just barely moved past NPCs standing in chairs. Honestly, what tech do you think a single player game will have on multiplayer things like server meshing? 1000s of players in one instance? What does that have to do with single player? Why are they doing barista tech and bartender tech in the PU? If they're building AI in S42, why haven't we seen AI that's worth a damn in the PU? The argument has been used for YEARS! The updates to s42 will improve the PU, and yet here we are. Then they finally after a while came out with the roadmap to a roadmap because they were so incredibly far away from even being able to produce a simple video showing updates. It was late for "b roll not being up to our standards". A long time ago we were supposed to get a video update about S42s status. You say that, but we don't actually know that. So the years go by and the millions keep rolling in and the game doesn't seem to progress that much when you look at the big picture, especially from the outside, so you can't really blame people for thinking it's a scam. So, yeah, bad choice with the "blind dude".Īgain, I don't think it's a scam, but I can see why people would think that because -and this is the real problem here- it's taken far, far longer than anticipated and announced, and is still going to take many, many years. Visuals over substance - and a blind dude probably is less "deceived" by the visuals. It's basically still mostly just a movie set. still aren't working, and which was built to map jump points - of which there are still exactly zero. It's not a scam, but I find it funny that your "evidence" is a screenshot of a ship that's been implemented for a couple of years now and whose escape pods, suit lockers, entire kitchen, armor, consoles, drones, bridge shutters, modular drop pods, mapping room, showers, toilets, engineering, sinks, antennae, decompression, servers, hologlobe, repair room, pool table and gravity generator etc.
